"Once the hole was made, a stepladder lowered and within seconds the first beagle puppy on its way to freedom"
– Beagle liberator
On Saturday 17th March 1990 a team of dedicated volunteers entered the animal units at Harlan Interfauna and removed over one hundred animals destined for vivisection laboratories. This action resulted in 82 beagle puppies and 26 rabbits being rehomed away from the vivisector's scalpel and broke the secrecy surrounding this breeder.
Years of sustained suffering have been documented within Wyton Farm. An expose in 2011 revealed beagles living in concrete kennel units, being provided with twenty minutes exercise each week and a complete disregard for their wellbeing. Employees were reported to be punching and kicking dogs, even shaving swearwords into their fur. The Home Office has refused to prosecute and turned their backs on the Interfauna beagles.
Exactly twenty-two years on from this action, campaigners will celebrate the animals who got away and fight for the beagles still imprisoned inside the kennels. A national demonstration is to be held at the site in order to call for justice for the Interfauna dogs and the closure of Britain's last beagle farm once and for all.
Join us in our calls to end the use of dogs in laboratories and advance m
edical science by standing alongside us at this demonstration.
Please bring purple flags - the colour of the anti-vivisectionists! Speakers are to be announced.
