Monday morning was due to see one of the regular shipments of primates by China Southern Airlines, containing eighty monkeys to be flown to SNBL in the USA for quarantine, before being taken to Harlan Laboratories.
This shipment, however, was different – our colleagues at PETA were tipped-off in advance about the fate of these primates and anti-vivisectionists across the globe took action.
After thousands of e-mails, hundreds of telephone calls and a visit from the PETA monkey to their Los Angeles offices the shipment was swiftly cancelled by China Southern.
Global calls are now underway for a full company policy from China Southern Airlines covering all future shipments of animals for research purposes.
