As part of the National Day of Action Against SRCL, activists held demonstrations and actions at a number of stores belonging to the Co-Operative Group.
SRCL hold a national contract with the Co-Op to collect and dispose of waste from their funeral services and pharmacies across the UK. Well...at least they did!
That afternoon, following hundreds of complaints from customers, the Co-Operative Group entered into discussions with NAVA regarding the future of their dealings with the beagle burners. The view was taken that, as a result of their policies regarding connection to animal research, the SRCL contract was to be reviewed and terminated.
Each and every person who took action made this happen. The Co-Operative contract was one of SRCL's biggest held and you made them lose it!
